Taught by Dive Rescue International, Inc.

The Underwater Crime Scene Technician I (UCSTI) program prepares public
safety divers for basic response to underwater crime scenes, introduces
the student to surface and subsurface crime scene investigation, and
prepares surface support personnel to compliment the efforts of
investigative teams. Dive Rescue is internationally renown and provides
yet another excellent three day training course for certified divers and
surface support personnel.  Successful completion of the Underwater
Crime Scene Technician I program will provide basic methods and skills
necessary to function effectively at an underwater crime scene.

COURSE TOPICS . . .
Handling and preservation of evidence
Delivery of important evidence to crime laboratories
Methods for complete documentation of underwater investigations
Accident scene investigation
Drowning investigations
Selecting, equipping and training investigative dive units
Crime scene evaluation
Communicating with family, media, and other agencies
Search patterns
Vehicle accident evidence processing
Introduction to specialized equipment
Field exercises

PREREQUISITES . . .
Member of a law enforcement agency or a letter of sponsorship verifying
that the student provides evidence recovery services for a law
enforcement agency, at least 18 years of age, diving personnel must
provide proof of certification.

BE SURE TO BRING . . .
All students must bring:  US Coast Guard approved P.F.D. with knife and
whistle, adequate clothing and protection from the environment, pen and
paper for note-taking and sketching.

Diving students must provide their own equipment:  Dry suit or adequate
wet suit, Scuba regulator: recently serviced or environmentally
protected with alternate air source (i.e.:  octopus, Air II, etc.),
timing device, depth and submersible pressure gauges, BC with oral power
inflator, two tanks with current Hydro & VIP, mask, snorkel, fins,
weight belt, two cutting tools (knife, wire cutters, or side cutters)

LOCATION . . .
Underwater Crime Scene Technician I will be held at the Daytona Beach
Community College, 3000 Palm Coast Parkway SE, Room 103, Palm Coast,
Florida.

Class begins promptly at 8:00 AM on November 12, 1999.

TUITION . . .
Full tuition is $285.00 in U.S. funds.
You may reserve a spot in the class with a credit card or purchase
order.  You can mail or fax in your tuition information to:

CANCELLATION POLICY . . .
Cancellations received prior to three weeks before the start date will
receive a full refund.  Cancellations received within three weeks prior
to the start date will receive a 50% refund.  Cancellations received
within 48 hours of the start time will not be entitled to a refund.
Department substitutions are acceptable. This policy applies to all
methods of payment.
