Xavier,

>>I have thought about it a while. My plan would be to go for GUE CAVE =
=3D
DIVER Level1. This would be possible in one week time with (I hope) some =
=3D
time left for extra practising.=3D20

One question remains however: assume I get certified GUE CAVE DIVER =3D
Level1: what kind of dives and under what circumstances will they be =3D
allowed ? <<

Excellent choice. I took Cave 1 with JJ & Ted Cole during the summer. It =
was a very dive & skill intensive program, taught by two guys who really =
know what the heck they are doing.

Training limits after GUE Cave 1, according to my notes from the course =
(yeah, I know, what a geek!) are:

Main line only
100fsw max depth
30 ft minimum visibility
no exploration (kinda goes along with the main line rule)
1/6 air rules if diving doubles=20

The last is simply to limit penetration. If you are diving singles, the =
rule is the normal thirds.

Note that GUE Cave 1 qualifies you to dive doubles, as opposed to other =
agencies programs, which you only dive singles.

Of course, I have no yardstick against which to measure their training, =
since the only cave course I have taken has been with GUE, but I felt it =
was very comprehensive - these guys don't mess around. Also, something =
that surprised me (pleasantly) was the level of professionalism they =
also displayed (ie, not bad-mouthing everyone else...)

Ted & JJ were the only two GUE instructors I trained under, but I've =
heard nothing but good things about several others.

Good luck, and enjoy the training,

Rich L
