Subject: New FREE decompression software
Hello everyone,,,

Lately, a number of free decompression planners have been made available to=
=20
the general public. Some of the are good, some of them not.

The Dutch guy Kees Hofwegen has made a decompression planner called GAP and=
=20
it is now available for download at
http://members.theglobe.com/decosw.

This, IHMO, is the best decompression planner available at any cost and no,=
=20
this view has nothing to do with the fact that that I've been beta testing=
=20
it and writing the help file :-)))

Its features include:
- GAP supports dives with open circuit and constant PPO2.
- GAP supports custom nitrox and trimix mixes and will suggest optimal=20
mixes for a given dive.
- GAP supports metric and imperial units.
- GAP supports multiple gas switches during the dive and decompression.
- GAP utilises templates for personalised settings.
- GAP utilises the well-proven B=FChlmann ZH-L16B and ZH-L16C decompression=
=20
algorithms.
- GAP utilises Erik Baker's gradient reduction algorithm for generating=20
deeper stops to reduce bubble formation.
- GAP can give the user warnings for low PPO2, high PPO2 and high END.
- GAP generates extensive reports about the dive, including decompression,=
=20
oxygen tracking, END and gas consumption.
- GAP easily generates bailout tables.
- GAP has a table expert which allows you quickly to generate square=20
profiles for many dive depths/durations at the same time.

Please note that the program has a graphical user interface and runs in the=
=20
Win32 environment. Also, as far as I know this is the first fully fledged=20
program that includes Erik Baker's Gradient Factor conservatism algorithm=20
e.g. for generating deep stops.

Look out for non-Haldanian versions in the future.

Please check it out. The email for bug reports (though there can hardly be=
=20
any :-))) is on the web page.
