The stuff I used came from Home Depot. It's called Bix Spray on =
Stripper ($5 ??). The bottle I got came with a spray bottle. I did it =
during football season. I simply turned the tank upside down, spayed =
the tank, then went in and watched a half a football game. When I came =
out, I used a brush with plastic bristles, and the paint just wiped off. =
Amazing stuff. I stripped several Al 80s more than a year ago, and =
have had no problem. Be careful to not get any inside the tank, and =
wear gloves. Also, put down a tarp of some sort; you'll make a huge =
mess that your wife will not appreciate <g>. I recommend cleaning the =
tank out after you're done. Also, if you use an orbit sander with a 120 =
grit on the surface, you can blend in the discoloration of the aluminum.

  Subject: stripping Al 80s

I know it's been covered before, but I searched the archives and =
couldn't find the thread.

I've got an old Al 80 I want to make into a stage bottle, but I need =
to strip the old paint off. I remember something about chemical =
strippers in the old thread, but are there any chemical strippers I need =
to _avoid_ due to heat production, or chemical reactions with the =
aluminum?

  Thanks,

  Rich L
