Julius,

You are forgetting that lawyers must also look at the years of
inferior labeling that would be contraindicated by a seriously
improved and more affordable system. A recall of the advertising label
and replacement with a sensible MOD would require a bit of funding at
this point and time. The Jane Ornstein case may not be over yet, perhaps
that is a consideration as well. These issues maybe what Tom is
referring to when he says reviewed by legal. The otherside may just be
the years of arguing the side of a loosing battle (Tom is the only one
for this ridiculous CF). I went and had another look at the new
improved label this morning. MOD is of the size of the other
non-sense printed and where the O should be in NITROX or
OXYGEN
appears the IANTD logo that someone is more proud of seeing rather than
the communication of valuable information.

It does not make sense that is the only answer to this situation.

Tom,

Why is it that there seems to be so many that oppose your marking
methods, but not one champion in it's behalf?

Working dive:
MOD 120' = 120'
MIX 30/70 = 120'

Which math would you rather preform when your life depends on it?
Calculating gasses should be done at the surface, not in the water
during a dive.

I've used the DIR method for many years now. Long before DIR was a
slogan.

Fault my logic:
1: The more elaborate the setup for a dive, the more potential for
mistakes.
2: Technical diving is by nature more elaborate.
3: Incorrect gasses can lead to fatal consequences.
4: The ability for a dive buddy to easily identify and react to a
mistaken gas
switch IS PARAMOUNT.
5: MOD is easier to identify then calculated mix.
6: The more cluttered a tank the more difficult to identify the MOD.
7: Using simple marking procedures that prominently display the MOD with
no
other confusing information generates less mistakes.
8: Less mistakes saves lives

Please consider the lives of those that are taught by you and your
instructors.

The legal system is designed to protect YOU from legal recourse. YOUR
layers are only looking at how many ways they can cover YOUR ass in
court. Please stop thinking about how YOU can protect YOURSELF and start
thinking of how we can save LIVES.
