Subject: Low volume masks, summary

Thanks to everyone for the responses on the low volume mask question.

I think I'll experiment with the TUSA, Diver's Supply has it at a
reasonable price. It does fit my face very well. In a year (if I
remmeber) I'll post on how well it holds up, which is the great unknown.

Here are all the responses in one place in case it helps anyone else out
(note I didn't really get anything negative on TUSA, which is why I
decided to experiment with it).

Roger, I used the cressi sub for many years and had good results.
Recently I
switched to the scuba pro mask with the snap out lenses. Since I wear
glasses
this is neccessary for me. I have had very good luck with this mask. It
has
slightly more volume than the cressi but a very good seal and a bit more

vision. I forget the name of the model but it is the one with the
corrective
lenses that can snap in. I think George uses this mask too.

Hey Man

Two mask that I like are the
Mares Seta (Tech Black)
Beauchat Stratos (Tech Black)

I Think that the Scuba Pro has the best Clarity of any mask
out there, but Scuba Pro Mask leak on me (fit).
They feel right, but they just dont cut it for me.
They also tend to be around $100.
The Mares and Beauchat come in at $65 from Divers Supply.

JJ dives the Seta So if it fits a world Record should be a good
indicator.

I hope this helps . Let me know what you decide upon

I have always found TUSA masks to be the only Tusa products worth
owning. I
have worn TUSA masks exclusively for 12 years.

I have a wide face and have a hard time getting the little italian masks
to
fit.

Finally I hit on the Scubapro frameless mask which fits me fabulously,
is
well made, and also looks good. If you can find a scubapro frameless to
try, give it a look. Not all scubapro dealers even stock it

of the cressi-sub masks, were you able to try on a super-occhio. a
lot of places do not keep these on the shelves. i use them, and they
are SUPER low volume. if you haven't tried one, check it out before
you make a purchase.

Sherwood makes a fine low volume mask. I t was called the genesis, but
with the company break-up I don't know who makes it now. Scubamax makes
a
nearly identical mask, only it has plastic pins instead of steel in the
buckles. The sherwood cost me 40 bucks 5 years ago; my backup scubamax
version was 30 last year.

Zeagle has a fine mask also...it has a very wide skirt...but is a little
pricey. If it fits the best though...it's worth it.

I use the Tusa 5500 liberator series--low vol and fits most all faces
well.
They last about 250 dives or so..

I had good luck with the US divers Look mask.
Cheap and Low volume.

I like low volume mask, too. Currently I use an Oceanic Trend 2 and a
Dacor
Bandit as my back-up. I like both.

There is a mask that is sold under many names that has very low volume
(160cc), is cheap, and fits almost everyone. It is sold as a Sherwood
Magnum 2, and is also sold with a Genesis label. I think it's made by
Browning or something like that. I believe that Scubapro did or does
sell the same mask. I stumbled onto this about a year ago, and found it
to be the most comfortable mask I've used.

I don't like the Dacor Bandit, and at 140cc it's just a little less
volume than the Sherwood, and a lot less comfortable.

I'm not a caver (yet), but I do dive often and I have never had a better
mask than the scubapro frameless. The seal it makes is bombproof on my
face.
