Misinformation! The note was left not so far down the main line (A tunnel), I believe. The lines were not cut on purpose. One line apparently got snagged on a wkpp diver and was pulled off some of the few availble tie-offs. Any others were most likely due to the normal wear and tear that happens to all lines in high flow caves.
