Now that the barge and crutches are gone from the Spring..... I love it. The usdct big time know-it-alls never understood the simplest tenets of Wakulla Springs that anyone who can read a topo map would know. The hydrostatic head of the groundwater is to the north and east, the nasty water is to the west in the "backbone" flowing south. Drive around with an altimeter ( like I have in the van) and find that out. In other words, for you marines, deep tunnels found to the east and north are clear, to the west and south, or shallow, are darker. There are two "conduits" - the clear, and the dark. Both run past Cherokee Sink, only one is up against the higher ground above - there are several crossovers. The usdct missed the clear one. I love it. Gee, I guess I forgot to put that on the map. What I also forgot to say is that there is more cave there than we can explore in ten more years, and all within easy reach. I just could not wait to let that one out. Cave divers? Give me a break. More like "instructions on the heel". The WKPP is amazing - what other organization can have 159 members and keep secrets? This is what is saving a ton of exploration for the guys coming along, and this is what maintains the value of our investments in gear and other things. I really want to thanks all of you guys for being such strong team players. You are the best. With a little luck this year, our new organizational structure and all of our new toys and techniques, we should be able to prevent ever being intruded upon like this again. I think it is clear who the real players are now.
