Kev, we tend to go plastic on stages to keep the weight down. It adds up when dragging a lot of bottles around. You are right about the reliability of the brass/glass - we use those on the back gas. Remember that stage diving you have three shots at the amount of gas in the tank - your guage and your two buddies' guages. Be aware that some of the metal guages have a plastic face that bows in and stops the needle - watch out for those.
