Bouyancy control. Complete comfort with the underwater environment. Buddy breathing. Good buddy skills. These can be corrected by getting rid of the $99 openwater classes that last two weeks and provide nothing, and instead gaining diving experience. Sure, you could take PADI's Peak Performance Bouyancy Specialty to master your bouyancy control, but that should be something you've mastered by the time you get that openwater card.
