Subject: FISHER CREEK FOUND BY SKIPPY AND SKIPPY WITH THE DOCTOR was Re: WAKULLA SPRINGS CHARLIE FOXTROT - THE LATEST
Chris Werner, Ted Cole and John Rose supported by JJ's GUE instructor
candidates successfully placed safeties out over a one mile stretch of
Leon Sinks which passes through the "Bitter End" while doing an
exploration dive. They dove past the "end" into the Second Black Abyss
with a "mission" of finding Fisher Creek. T'ing in for a sweep, they
located the incoming maze of Terror Tunnel immediately in 65 feet of
water on the southwest end of the giant black room, adding line,
checking the leads, and finally solving part of the old mystery of the
surface water intrusion.

Eric Livingston has just lost his bet with me - he said we would never
find the "smoking gun". Chris found it, and it was smoking. This is even
better since he is our geologist, and works for Florida Geological
Survey.

One of the things that makes this dive so tough is that not only is it
a mile out in deep water, one has to decompress up to the level of the
exploration on back gas, get it done, and not get bent. Brent and I
worked this protocol out last week, and so far it has worked on five of
us. The secret? Use very high helium in the mix, and be in top shape.

Congrats to our guys, they scored a major find on this dive, and as per
usual, executed it flawlessly. We are extremely happy with the
powerhouse of divers we have developed in WKPP, as evidenced by these
three guys .

Now we need to run the swimthough, so if whoever can work on the TV
coverage , we can run anytime now - the cave is set up ) the rest we
will do the day of the dive). I will call Bil Stone and ask him if he
thinks I should try to do this in three months, or just one day.
