"John Vanderleest and Andrew Poole dived to 89 meters water depth for 47 =
minutes in A tunnel to the junctions with B and C tunnels. They placed a =
radio transmitter beacon and laid new permanent line to clearly mark the =
B and C tunnel entrances in preparation for routine mapping missions to =
come shortly. They also relocated some safety stage bottles to the B and =
C junctions."

"Two hours following the dive John Vanderleest began to experience =
symptoms of decompression sickness, manifested as a pain in his right =
leg. Although the decompression habitat and bell facility at Wakulla 2 =
are designed to handle this, the inboard oxygen bibs (regulators with =
overboard dumps necessary to maintain internal oxygen concentrations to =
NOAA standards) were still being installed and were not immediately =
available for this incident. John Vanderleest, accompanied by team =
physician John Zumrick, M.D., dive partner Andrew Poole, and chamber =
operator Joe Dituri, traveled to the hyperbaric medicine facility at the =
Tallahassee Community Hospital. A treatment table 6A, as prescribed by =
the hyperbaric facilitiy physician, was fully successful and Vanderleest =
is doing fine. The specific reason for the DCS (decompression sickness) =
incident is being investigated. It is possible that the diver =
inadvertantly omitted several of the deeper stops that otherwise would =
have been required. Procedures to prevent this in the future are being =
developed and we have chosen to stand down on fielding cave missions =
temporarily until the floating decompression habitat can be brought up =
to full operational status, capable of handling any on-site future DCS =
problems that might arise. "

FYI...The BC junction is where the WKPP does its' first decompression =
stops.
