Mike,
I have a full size Bronco 4x 4 and a full size F -150 pickup. The Bronco
will pull a house, will keep your gear secure when your not around and will
get you to any site short of needing a helicopter. It does require cleaning
and not leaving wet gear in it if you also want to transport your lady or
guests. (Unless she/they are impressed by that kinda smell). The F-150 has a
300 straight 6, will run forever and gets decent mileage. It will also pull
a decent load and doesn't require cleaning. Securing your gear is an issue,
a topper or the rolling aluminum bed covers (preferred) will do the job.
Had a full size van for many years, but it was dedicated to diving and
killed you on gas.
Both the Bronco and pickup get reasonable mileage, (a load of dive gear
makes next to no difference) and you won't wear out the engine.
A full size is designed to carry the weight and everybody I know that has
had mini trucks now owns a full size.
