Subject: POST MORTEM

Hi JT-

Since we have beaten this horse to death, it is only fair we do a post
mortem to see how we got to where we are today. I will try to keep this
simple, but please ask Nancy or another designated translator to help you
with any big words.

The reason I initially posted was due to your incessant abuse of other
subscribers. Instead of answering questions, you simply called them
neophytes and deemed them unworthy of your time. However, your holier than
thou art attitude caught up with you. After several requests from posters
to learn about your background, you made the following statement in a post:

"Joe, I have been diving longer in time, years and deeper in depth than the
leader of your group. He did not even know how to fill my doubles when I
stopped by DQ when it first opened.....HE was just learning so ask him the
year."

Obviously, *you* concern yourself with status (especially depth) and
comparison to others. I decided to test you on this, and simply requested
the number of technical dives you have done below 150fsw to see how credible
the above statement was, and to get an apples versus apples comparison.
I
posted an overview of my diving history; you have not. Again, you refuse to
answer that simple question time and time again. Instead, you have tried to
dredge up whatever you can to try and distract the list from the truth about
your technical diving background. Remember, you are the one calling people
neophytes, not me. You are the one stating something along the lines that
if you have not dived below 500fsw or been back 12,000 feet in a cave (even
though you have never been in a cave, and refuse to take the very beneficial
training) that they had no business talking to you or commenting on your
activities, not me. That is pretty bold coming from a guy that has such a
limited technical diving history such as you.

I also contested your claims about me not knowing to fill doubles. Where
were you planning on going with that? You continually try to place yourself
head and shoulders above everyone else, but obviously, the truth about your
*real* technical diving background, or lack thereof, has been revealed. I
am just surprised no one else called you on that bullshit, since it was all
right there on your website and in your posts.

We have discussed an incident that occurred 2.5 years ago, as well as my
employment history over 6 years ago, both of which have little bearing on
the initial topic. Now you bring up some other red herrings with Zurl,
which is again wildly convoluted (yet, I see you have allied yourself with
someone that has as much credibility as you). You continue to try and
distract me from the true objective and scope of my original post. No
longer will I entertain your segues. Through it all, never have I seen you,
or any of your comrades, simply offer the number of technical dives you have
done past 150fsw.

I went ahead and attempted to tally up your dives, based on your website and
your trip reports. I ended up with 43 technical dives past 150fsw over the
period of the last six years (1998-2003), but conceded that I may be off a
bit. I offered for you to correct me on my estimate of 43 technical dives
past 150fsw, but you passed. It is obvious to anyone that reviews your
website that the vast majority - if not all - of your technical dives below
150fsw are documented. I am aware of the limited dive season, as well as
the schedule of the dive boats in the area. It would be preposterous for
you to attempt and inflate your diving history of 43 dives, as we would all
know you are lying; hence your silence on this subject. Perhaps if you
ignore it long enough and it will go away, right? While the actual number
of dives is unimportant, the scale on the number of your dives *is*
important. Regardless if it is 43, 53, or 63, it is clear and undeniable
that you, my friend, are a neophyte (i.e., a beginner; a novice). It is
also clear that you have a fascination with depth (based on your lack of
intermediate technical diving experience and your rush to go so deep, so
fast), as well as an irrational and unhealthy competitive attitude with
other divers. Hopefully, this won't get you, or someone else, killed.

You continue to pick apart my posts and only address very limited sections
with empty, unsubstantiated statements. The only reason I brought up the
DCS incidents was not to criticize anyone about getting bent (as you tried
to insinuate), but the fact that you have covered up numerous incidents,
something you swear you don't do ("I always tell the truth"). This
illustrates your lack of credibility.

As you alluded to, DCS is one of diving's sports-related injuries. All
things being equal, you wouldn't criticize a football player for blowing out
his knee or a tennis player for pulling a hamstring, and you shouldn't
criticize a DCS event either. That only further stigmatizes the problem,
and may hinder people from seeking proper treatment.

Cover-ups and exposing people is not on my agenda, though I know it is on
yours. I simply wanted to illustrate that you are a hypocrite and you have
no credibility. Unlike you, I won't demand the names of the divers who got
bent on the third DORIA trip in 2001 (apparently the majority of them), or
threaten to post the picture of one of them who was bent, sucking O2 on the
sundeck of the MISS LINDSEY, and flipping off the cameraman, which was
circulated on the internet right after the completion of your trip. Just
knowing that it *does* exist, what I said *did* happen, and that *you* know
this is true (as much as you want to deny it) is all the proof and
credibility I need. Even though I heard from separate sources that you also
were bent during the 2001 DORIA dives, I will just drop that, since you will
stubbornly continue to deny it to the end ("Coalition troops are NOT in
Baghdad!"). As far as I am concerned, my point has been made: you are a
hypocrite.

Now, I will ignore whatever you and your buddies want to throw at me and
will just focus on that one simple question:

JT, just how many technical (i.e., helium-based with planned decompression)
dives have you conducted below 150fsw?

If this is answered accurately, I will disappear. I will let you reign free
on TECHDIVER, unfettered from exposing people and boasting about how you
have gone deeper than anyone else. Free to criticize me, my ancestors, or
whatever trivial, non-related subject you can find so as to "bash my dick",
make you look better, and take the focus off of your own inadequacies.

The funny thing is, the damage is already done. People have checked out
your website and (quickly) counted up the number of technical dives you have
actually done. They now understand what perspective to put on anything that
you have to say, since they know your true diving background.

Have a pleasant evening,
Mike
